Peter Colquhoun
B.Sci. Arch., B. Arch. (Syd)

Peter grew up on the beach at Bondi and still lives with his young family across the road from the sand. He is a graduate of Sydney University, with a postgraduate degree in architecture and registered as an A-plus architect in the state of NSW.

After gaining experience in leading practices during the early 90’s, he headed overseas to expand his architectural horizons. While travelling he studied the classics of Europe and America, which is evident in the dozens of sketches and drawings he completed during these years. Recently Peter has been working on the design of several beach houses as well as other domestic commissions.

One of the most exciting projects he is currently involved with is the re-design of North Bondi Surf Club. This design is in association with Durbach Block Jaggers. Together they are creating a landmark building (See fly through at: theclubhouse@northbondisurfclub.com).

While architecture is Peter’s personal and professional passion his media credits are extensive. Peter is the resident architect on Australia’s longest running home show Better Homes and Gardens and has hosted several other successful architectural programs on the Fox network. Peter is also a favourite when it comes to major sporting events including the Olympics.

Sandcastles combines his two great passions, architecture and the beach. Peter is responsible for the shows original concept and carefully selects the houses featured in the program. His unique knowledge and love of the beach, architecture and TV deliver a rare insight into homes voted amongst the best in the world.
